Great hotel set in 120 acres of land to explore for a nice stroll. The quality and size of rooms was amazing, staff very attentive and general surroundings very nice and relaxing.

The spa was good, the pool big enough for a short swim, the jaccuzzi, steam & saunas all spacious. An outdoor jacuzzi and sauna were also available in a landscaped enclosed garden. We didn't have any treatments because we just wanted to relax, but the treatment list did seem expensive.

Two restaurants were on offer, we dined in reflections, which was tasty and offered a good selection. The second option was a fine dining restaurant, but we didn't try that one.

The reason for not getting 5 stars in all categories was due to value. I purchased their overnight, dinner and breakfast package at c£300. I was disappointed to note that the included "dinner" actually was £35 pp towards dinner. This would only get you two courses at best in Reflections restaurant, and that would be for basic options like soup to start. The cheapest menu option in the other restaurant was £45 pp. With supplements & drinks we ended up with another £200 bill at checkout. £500 for one nights stay, dinner & breakfast didn't feel like great value to me.

The visit was overall very good. The hotel is lovely and the spa has good facilities. The massage was great, and the staff in the spa were friendly.

However, the hotel kept running out of towels. We had also booked on to a afternoon tea. They had trouble finding our booking and we were left waiting for even a glass of water for over half an hour (despite asking 3 times). We were not given a tea menu and no table was made up for us. The waitress then insisted we have the cream tea instead, as they had not got enough of the afternoon tea. We eventually said we would wait for the afternoon tea. We finally were served tea at 6pm, when our booking was 5pm.... really not what i was expecting from a reasonably decent hotel. The reception staff were not helpful or apologetic about this.
