As a massage therapist myself I love to visit other places to see what my colleagues are doing and to pick up tips. I have been for a massage here before and it was *okay*, but not excellent. This one was quite awful though and such terrible value for money.
I felt the therapist was unskilled and paid no attention to me as a client, just delivering a set routine of either incredibly light pressure or far too intense pressure with no attention to where I was holding tension. I didn't get the impression she knew which areas to focus on or what the muscles were - a little worrying for what was marketed as a 'deep tissue massage'.
With tender IT bands, I was clearly wincing and pulling away in pain as she pummeled the sides of my thighs, but she ignored this. 2 days later I am a lot stiffer and in a lot of pain following the massage, with tension having built up in my back as a result.
The overall experience was not good - I was either bored as she stroked my skin or bracing with pain as she went in too intensely in the wrong places.
The welcoming experience was not there either - no consultation or welcome was given. I was phoned an hour before demanding I come 15 minutes earlier as she wanted to see another client at my time (I had already paid) and asked with clear annoyance why could I not just come 15 minutes earlier (despite me being at work - I managed to come earlier).
I would not recommend...
This is a pared down salon. There was nobody to greet me when I walked in nor to speak to following my massage when I left.
The massage was very hard and very thorough - the masseuse was certainly persistent, although I am not sure how much you are supposed to keep prodding hard knots in someone's back. I have a high pain threshold and this was painful!
If a no-frills, hard full body massage is what you're after, this is definitely the place for you.
