Why a solo spa trip is something you should consider

15 November 2018 by Beth Ryan

The best bits of a spa day: relaxing, the treatment(s), sipping fizz, wearing a fluffy robe. All can be enjoyed on your own, and actually, I’m suggesting it’s better that way. Recent studies show that over 80% of millennial travellers are heading out solo. Sure, travelling half an hour to your nearest spa may feel a little different to a single trip ‘round South America, but the motive remains the same: time for you.  Here’s everything you need to know about hitting the spa on your own.

  • 1 You’re not the only one

You know how hard it is to organise a friends get together – proposing dates ‘til someone leaves the country. There’s no use waiting another two years (ahem) to get the gang together, when you could be lapping up the relaxation right now with a ‘me, myself and I’ mindset. Spa Experience Kensington told us that ‘there’s a big trend in guests coming to spa days on their own as a weekly treat – for making it to Friday’. We can definitely relate to that.

  • 2 What should you do?

Whatever you want, you decide the agenda (without someone else calling the shots). Choose a treatment, and soak up the full spa experience, from sauna to swimming pool. Some venues will cater to your solo trip too. At Spa Experience Kensington, Tuesday is their ‘female day’, where the ‘thermal spa is exclusively for female use’. FYI, spa days for £30 exist. Thought you'd like to know.

  • 3 Where should you go?

The only difficult decision – where to go. There’s a little guidance on this blog, from spas to suit your budget, to the most Instagrammable options (no one with you to judge your selfie-taking – result). If its a real reset you’re in need of, give Hammam a try. The indulgent experience will keep your whole day occupied, from Turkish massage to black soap cleansing. I see your temptation.

Yep, with 2.5k spa days booked to date in 2018, relaxation is obviously on the agenda. Treat yourself to a solo trip. Means you can brag about it to your pals later.

With Treatwell, you can book beauty online at all your favourite salons – simple, hassle-free, and you can do it on the go. Discover amazing spas in your area.
