This is the shade of eyeshadow you should wear to bring our your eye colour (according to science)

Lockdown one was all about embracing no makeup days (and enjoying the skin benefits) but now it’s another round of restrictions and we’re bored. So, we’re practising for when the restrictions lift. We’re talking hairstyles, makeup, you name it. Today: which shade of eyeshadow to wear to accentuate your eye colour.

First things first, there are literally no rules when it comes to makeup. We’re purely talking about the best shades for making your eyes pop. According to science (well, the colour wheel), of course.

    1 Blue eyes

Blue is opposite orange on the colour wheel so, when the two are paired, the clash brings out both colours. Earthy tones like orange, red, brown and metallic shimmers like gold, bronze and copper are perfect for accentuating blue eyes. The contrast of dark, smoky eyes against pale eyes is pretty great too.

    2 Green eyes

If you want to make your green eyes look brighter and even more green, pinks and purples are the way to go. That might sound pretty daunting but it doesn’t have to be – opt for browns with a purple undertone if you’re not confident going full-on raspberry.

    3 Brown eyes

Brown eyes are probably the most versatile when it comes to accentuating them. Match golden undertones and specks to gold and copper shimmers. Light brown eyes look great with blue tones (try switching to dark blue for your smoky eye) while darker browns really have the pick of the bunch.

Instead of looking to the colour wheel, bring out grey eyes by matching them with more cool tones. Think silver, gunmetal and icy blues and whites. Opt from browns with a cool undertone, too.
