Maybe you’ve heard your friends waxing lyrical about their LVL lash lift, or perhaps you’ve already got your first appointment booked in. Either way, you’re probably still wondering what exactly happens in that room to transform your regular lashes.
-
1 Step 1: the patch test
We're putting our sensible hats on – just for a second before we get to the fun bit. The patch test is important, especially if this is your first time with LVL. Just pop into your salon 48 hours in advance for a patch test so your therapist can check that you're not allergic to the bonding formula. The majority of people are fine, but it's better to know for sure before you try.
-
2 Step 2: the prep
During LVL you'll be lying back with your eyes closed for up to an hour. While you're honing your meditation techniques, your therapist will clean your upper lashes and pop a pad over the lower ones to keep them out of the way.
-
3 Step 3: the process
Now, this is the part you don't get to see (if you skipped part 2, it's because your eyes will be shut). Your therapist will pop a curling shield on your lids and coat it with a bonding gel before carefully pulling back each lash and gently sticking them to the shield. Next, they'll coat the lashes with a lifting balm. This sits for 14 minutes, before being replaced with a volumising fix. The finishing touch is a colour tint.
-
4 Step 4: the big reveal
Your technician will wash away any remaining gel and gently unstick your eyelashes from the shield. A nourishing serum helps to rehydrate your lashes and leave them feeling (as well as looking) – well, pretty awesome, to put it simply.

FAQs
What does an LVL lash lift appointment involve?
An LVL lash lift appointment includes a patch test, lash preparation, a lift and tint process, and aftercare. You’ll relax with your eyes closed as a therapist cleans your lashes, applies a curling shield, bonding gel, lifting balm for 14 minutes, volumising fix, and then a colour tint.
Why do you need a patch test before your LVL lash lift?
A patch test is required to check if you’re allergic to the bonding formula. You should visit your salon 48 hours in advance so your therapist can make sure the treatment is safe for you.
How long do you need to keep your eyes closed during an LVL lash lift?
You’ll keep your eyes closed for up to an hour during the LVL lash lift. This helps ensure your lashes stay clean and untouched while your therapist applies each product and completes the treatment.
What happens during the LVL lash lift process?
Your therapist will place a curling shield on your eyelids, use a bonding gel, and carefully stick each lash to the shield. Lashes are then treated with a lifting balm for 14 minutes, replaced by a volumising fix, and finished with a tint, resulting in dramatic, lifted lashes.
How are your lashes cared for at the end of an LVL lash lift?
At the end, the technician washes away remaining gel and gently removes your lashes from the shield. A nourishing serum is applied to rehydrate them, leaving your lashes feeling and looking great.
