For my first visit to the Dorchester Spa I booked a 'Spirulina Detox Wrap''. This treatment was wonderfully relaxing - I left the spa feeling like I was walking on clouds!! It was amazing it left my body feeling cleansed, detoxed and noticeably firmer!
The whole experience of this spa was amazing; it's the little things that matter like the pearl bracelet attach to your locker key, the fluffy robes, the abundance of fluffy towels, the cucumber water, and the little gift bag that you take away with you that make you feel like a princess.
The facilities are amazing; the relaxation room is exactly as you imagine - heavenly!! The steam roomers are clean, the staff are wonderful and extremely knowledgeable, the treatment rooms are self contained - one of the things I loved was that the massage bed have a ledge for you to rest your arms - no more wondering what to do with them or dangling them!
You get what you pay for and the Dorchester Spa is worth every penny!!
Me and a my friend had a Lavender & Orange blossom body scrub and massage.
This experience was interesting and could be divided into two halves. The facilities and the treatment..
The wet spa - was shared with the facilities gym so it wasn't the cleanest, the steam room and sauna was quite smelly and the facilities were generally overcrowded. Even the swimming pool was being used as a teaching pool for under 10's.
The reception - firstly the treatment rooms are separate to the wet facilities this means you have dry off completely (including your swim suit) and either get redressed to wait in the Nuffield main reception or wait in your swimsuit - this isn't ideal as the is a constant flow of people wanting to use the gym. We also found the Nuffield main receptionists to be rude and unhelpful!
The treatment was heavenly both my friend and I were amazed at how relaxing and wonderful we felt after scrub and massage. The spa staff were amazing and friendly a complete contrast to the main receptionists. We actually left the spa feeling like we had been pampered in a 5 star spa.
Our conclusion... The treatment was excellent value for money- We would go again but most certainly would not be using the wet spa!! If your looking for a relaxing spa day then this isn't the best place however if you want to book a standalone treatment then we highly recommend.
My friend and I booked Exotic Coconut Ritual Wrap Spa Day
The treatment was lovely we both enjoyed our treatment but it wasn't the amazing heavenly experience that we expected, the wet spa facilities are attached to a gym which isn't ideal who wants to be relaxing in the jacuzzi while being watch by sweaty men in the gym!
In addition to this the lockers were all out of order and so we had to leave our belonging behind a reception desk - this meant neither my friend or I were unable to relax and we were worried about our valuables! Apparently they had been out of order for several weeks and so I think it is reasonable to have expected the spa to give us some warning! Perhaps then we would have left our valuables at home!
Overall the experience was OK but we wouldn't go back.
I had a Spa pedicure which was OK I'm not sure it was any better than I could have done myself but I went to keep a friend company as she had got a voucher for a pedicure for her birthday. As they were short staffed we had to have our pedicures in the main reception area rather than a treatment room. Their choose of nail polish was limited, that said the foot massage was lovely.
This is more of a salon than a Spa, it cheap and cheerful if you expect a salon experience you won't be disappointed.
