I was pleased with the treatment - the staff were polite, the salon is lovely and well lit. The person who did my hair was friendly, diligent and explained everything to me step by step. I bought a sulfate free shampoo from them - it wasn't a hard sell so I didn't mind.

After the Brazilian blow dry treatment, I had to wait 4 days before I could wash my hair! Was difficult but I got through it! My hair is a lot smoother and easier to manage since the treatment. I was told that the treatment could last up to 4 months - nearly 8 weeks on it is still in good condition so perhaps it will indeed last the 4 months.

What was confusing is that the deal was £69 (not the cheapest even with a deal) advertised as being a 70% discount off £230 full price. However, at the end of my treatment, I was given a card and told that if I want to rebook I can come back and pay the full price of £99 (rather than them saying this was a discounted price as an incentive to come back) which was slightly confusing.

Overall I was happy with the treatment and probably would go back again.

The location was slightly odd being in the basement of the mailboxes shop...

The therapist was very sweet and friendly. Sex and the City on in the background was great. A good manicure and pedicure with tea and chocolate - can't complain!

I would return again.

When I arrived (on time) my therapist was still dealing with her previous client chatting about various products so I was asked to wait. This meant I was taken to the treatment room more than 5 minutes late. I was then left (for longer than necessary) to get undressed.

The facial itself felt quite luxurious - the various aromas and textures of the products were lovely and the facial massage was pretty good. That said, it would have been nice if they had provided a hand massage while the steamer was on.

After the treatment I returned to the reception area to find that not only had the therapist not gone over time since she started late (due to her running late), she actually finished 5 minutes early. I subsequently found out that the reason for this was so she could tell me about, i.e. sell, the various overpriced products. Being barraged with an information overload after a nice relaxing facial was not really what I needed.

Although I enjoyed the facial, it was around 45 minutes rather than an hour; starting the facial late and finishing early so that they can sell their products was not appropriate and in the end I left with a sense that the place was pretentious. I won't be returning.

The massage was good. The therapist asked if the pressure was adequate and provided a firm massage. The venue itself was pleasant enough (inside a hotel) and the treatment room was nice. I would return.

Very disappointing. I don't work in central london so had to make a special trip into holborn for each of the 4 sessions. The venue was in a basement which was quite cold and noisy.

The first week, the main instructor Julie was on a retreat so someone else covered for her so we had to listen to her background and introduction. Then on the second week when Julie returned, we had to hear about her background. Not the best start to have two different instructors on consecutive weeks hence differing styles time spent on going their intros as well as each of ours.

The sessions themselves were more like self-help then meditation. Whilst I appreciate that one can learn through the experiences of others, I did not travel for 1 hour each way to hear about how the others in the group were stressed, couldn't sleep, etc. I went there to learn how to clear my own mind and to be still.

Very disappointing.

Balham Fitness First is very much bog standard when it comes to the facilities and layout. It is essentially on one floor, has about twenty treadmills and a few of the other types of equipment, e.g. bikes, steppers. It gets extremely busy around 6pm and so you sometimes have to queue for equipment. Virgin Active gyms are far superior but for the purposes of the deal, it is good value.
