The treatment is a bit painful but the therapist is friendly and explains what she's doing and it does gets less painful as you get used to it. But it's painful enough to be doing me good I hope!
Really lovely therapist and all the other staff were very friendly too. It's based in the basement of a hair salon so ambiance will always be less than in a full spa but I've certainly been to much more unpleasant beauty facilities in hair salons. My therapist talked me through what she was doing and checked that I was comfortable going along. It remains to be seen whether the inches will stay off my wobbly bits but if they don't it won't be the therapist's fault! I'm going back for more too.
Super facials and Nita is just lovely. I arrived late the first day - a really busy Saturday but Nita accommodated me. The only downside is that the salon is in the basement of a really busy hair salon and you need to squeeze past the dye station to get to the narrow stairs but downstairs is a lovely calm oasis.
Firstly, the therapist was a lovely girl - friendly and pleasant and gave a fantastic massage. The problem is the spa itself - she was the only person manning it and she was busy so there was no-one there to greet me or to talk me through the facilities plus the pool area was a bit dirty...and she could hardly leave her clients to run a mop around.
There were lots of towels but most seemed to be very frayed and if you had them at home you'd have given them to the dog for a chew-toy a long time ago. My robe had no belt and so when I had my nails and toenails painted (after the massage) I had to shuffle off to wait for them to dry in tiny ladies changing room in an open robe and pants...I couldn't risk sitting by the pool and flashing anyone passing so had to sit under the lockers or the hairdryer....having to move between them when other guests needed to access them because there were no other chairs or seating available other than the toilet!
So, a 5-star therapist trying to work in a 1-star spa....I just don't get why they don't even have a receptionist when the hotel upstairs has umpteen male flunkies standing around the concierge desk?
This is a fabulous spa - great facilities and really pleasant staff, especially the receptionists and restaurant staff. In truth I was a little underwhelmed by the foot treatment - the first time I've ever been underwhelmed by an elemis treatment but the body exfoliation was good.
Great steam and sauna suite and for women only - the men had their own and I loved the relaxation room with its electric massage chairs. All in all - this was a great spa day.
I took my Mum for a treat just before the New Year as this spa deal included tea for two in the Hotel Executive Lounge and we had a fabulous table overlooking the Houses of Parliament for that. The Elemis spa is great - it's a pity that there isn't a relaxation room with automatic massage beds or a hot-tub but there is a nice pool and a sauna and a salt steam room and the spa area is as luxurious as any Elemis spa anywhere. The treatments were wonderful and my therapist was wonderful too. We had a marvellous time and my mother now expects me to treat her to more spa goodies.
Disappointing overall, if I'm honest! The therapist was pleasant but rarely spoke to me and just did stuff, including moving my arms, without letting me know what was coming. The room was badly lit with tealight candles and a few dull spotlights so the massage, facial and beginning of the manicure were largely carried in darkness. Yes, a facial in darkness...and that was after telling her that I have had adverse reactions to products, in the past. And I had to get changed in the dark.
However, the facial and massage were pleasant and I enjoyed them. But the manicure was disappointing as it just involved my nails filed in the dark - with no discussion about preferred shape or any attention to my cuticles and no hand massage or cream or oil applied - but polish was applied. In fairness, the polish was nicely applied and outside the treatment room in the light, and I did get to choose the colour but I would have foregone the polish for the other elements you normally expect from a manicure, especially the hand massage, if I'd been given the choice.
This place could be great if they sort out the lighting in the treatment room and if the therapist would just talk the client though what's being done to her. And sort out the manicure!
Hard to rate the slimmers shorts given the categories...I haven't had any direct dealing with the staff, for example. The shorts smell really bad on opening the packaged and there is a visible weak spot where the fabric is thinner in one spot - almost a hole - in my pair but I hope they are working!
Sensational deal - as many classes as you can do for two months at a range of central London locations and if they are anything like the class at RADA last night I'll be as thin as a rake and supple as a baby by Christmas. Fantastic.
I was a little apprehensive as I approached as this spa is set within the local municipal sports centre but it is just fab and so is the centre...and the attached cafe is probably better than most cafe restaurants in London. What a find...I just wish I lived in Camden Borough as anyone who does and is still paying commercial gym rates, when fantastic gem is on their doorstep, needs their head examining!
The only downside to the spa is that it doesn't have it's own loo and you need to use the one in the gym changing room (which is why I've only given it 4 out of 5 for facilities).
The spa suite is pleasant and the staff are very friendly. The therapist explained what she doing throughout and asked me the right questions about allergies and injuries. She gave me the time I needed to get ready beforehand and after and the massage was just great. Highly, highly recommended!
