Bit of a trek from home, but I was impressed by all the positive reviews - and not disappointed, Rosie is lovely, it's a quiet relaxing salon and the facial and products were excellent.
I'll definitely be returning, fantastic experience - and if you have time to linger, there are some amazing parks tucked away nearby, where you'd least expect them,
I had a different manicurist to last time - this one chose to do a dry manicure, so much more cutting of cuticles than my first visit here, but it was done well, so I haven't had any problems with hangnails.
Generally the manicure has lasted well, two and a half weeks on from when it was done, nine nails are still perfect - just a tiny strip on the side one thumb where the varnish didn't cure properly that I noticed about three days after the manicure,
The manicurist did say to go back if there were any problems, but I was away on holiday - and while I know it's not quite right, I don't think its that noticeable to anyone else.
the salon was very quiet, and the temperature a bit cold (glad I was having a manicure and not a massage!) - but it was a Monday afternoon, and the discounts seem to be structured so as to be available during less busy times.
The therapist had plenty of time to give me an excellent manicure - aside from one tiny chip, it's still looking good two and a half weeks later.
Great therapist and facial - the treatment is based in a gym, so a bit lacking in atmosphere, but I feel that is reflected in the prices charged; therapist couldn't have been more welcoming; the gym receptionist was very pleasant too.
great as ever, took a while to find the new salon, but fine now that I know where it's tucked away
Different therapist to the one that I normally see at this venue; still relaxing, but I was quite tired having not slept well the night before - makes me a complete wimp about anything more than v gentle pressure, so probably didn't get the full benefit.
AVOID - Worst Brazilian Blow dry ever
Alarm bells should have rung when the hairdresser, after telling me to keep it dry for two days, attempted to douse my hair with hairspray before I left!
When I woke the next day, the top layer was straightish, but underneath my hair had sprung back to its normal kinks and curls; presumably she didn’t straighten the lower layers anything like enough. My scalp also felt bumpy, like sand paper – although it didn’t itch or flake. As my hair’s been washed a couple of times now, and a week later the bumpiness is starting to wear off, it seem it was just the roots of my hair were rigid, creating the odd bumpy texture.
After washing, my hair instead of being straight is a tangled nest that looks like candy floss, and takes an age to de-tangle, even with lots of conditioner. Even with blow drying, my hair quickly reverts to a frizzy mess,
I’ve been having Brazilian Blowdries for about five years now, generally every 5-6 months. Usually my hair is straight and well behaved enough not to need blowdrying for at least four months after a treatment. This is appalling – and I don’t want to go elsewhere to get another BB because I try to avoid the chemical treatment too often.
Pleased with my highlights, however it was frustrating to be kept waiting, with my treatment starting half an hour after the time scheduled. I was offered tea and coffee while waiting, and the women were very friendly, but I would have been happier if I'd been told they were running late at the outset.
Great haircut, I'm really pleased with it. Dimitris cut my hair, & paid huge attention to detail to get it to sit just right.
- and gave me the most amazing head massage when my hair was washed.
One thing to watch out for - my phone map took me to the wrong part of Greys Inn Road (and it is a very long road!) The salon is actually on the corner of Mount Pleasant, very close to the big junction with Clerkenwell Road/Theobalds Road.
great salon, and they do good manicures - just so unfortunate that they are extremely anti people booking on wahanda - not that you receive a poor service, but the level of pressure to make repeat bookings directly (and without discount)is unpleasant. If it weren't for this I would have awarded '5*' again.
I felt uncomfortable with this the first time I used the salon; it felt even more pressured second time around - sufficiently so that I probably won't go here again.
If they don't want business through wahanda, then they either shouldnt use the site, or if they only want to use the site to attract new business, restrict discounts to new clients only.
