Go with the flow and get ready to feel the vibe. Also known as Yoga Vibes, Yoga Power Plate does pretty much what it says on the tin. By practising core yoga poses on the vibrating plate of the Power Plate machine, you can get toned and trim in much less time than you would through traditional gym workouts. The great news is that you will also benefit from the mental awareness that yoga helps you to develop – so your mind will get a good workout as well as your body.
Sessions of Power Plate yoga usually last between 20 -30 minutes. At the beginning of a session, you will be assigned a machine, and asked to stand on the vibrating plate. The vibrations of this plate will cause your muscles to contract between 30 and 50 times per session, helping them to build strength and become nice and toned – not bad considering you’re just standing there.
So what about the yoga? Combining traditional yoga poses with the vibrations of the Power Plate means your body gets double the benefits. Your instructor will talk you through a number of different poses (asanas) which you will adopt and hold. Sometimes you will do these whilst standing fully on the machine, other poses will require keeping one leg on the machine and one on the floor. Once you’ve got used to the vibrations, you’ll start to feel all the calming benefits of yoga – a great way to balance the challenge of working your muscles nice and hard.
Yoga Power Plate is great for those looking to improve their core stability, flexibility and strength, in addition to relaxing their mind and increasing their awareness. Beginners are welcome, but classes can also be a fun way for yoga or Power Plate enthusiasts to change their exercise routine by introducing a new activity. You’ll be feeling the good vibrations in no time...
The Power Plate is not suitable for those who are pregnant or who have certain medical conditions. If you are worried that using the Power Plate machine may not work for you, make sure you consult your doctor before booking a class.
It’s claimed that 15 minutes on the Power Plate is the equivalent of an hour’s workout in the gym. All the benefits of normal exercise but with less time and effort? Sounds very tempting to us...
