How does it work?
NLP practitioners work with personal history where appropriate to help people interpret the past effectively and to assist them in changing deeply imprinted behaviour patterns. During an NLP session you will be asked lots of questions so that the therapist can help you to pinpoint the issues that need to be worked on. However, practitioners are able to use NLP to help you without having to know the full details of an event, so if there is something that embarrasses you you don’t have to worry about disclosing it to a stranger – phew!
NLP sessions are conducted one on one, allowing your therapist to give you the attention necessary to help you achieve your goals.

Some NLP practitioners may also use hypnosis to help you achieve your goals – if you are concerned about this then speak to your practitioner about it at the beginning of the session.
Good to know
The concept of NLP resulted from collaboration between psychologist Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder in the 1970s. However, they fell out majorly in the 1980s and it was only in 2001 that they agreed to recognise each other as co-founders.
