How does it work?
Lamaze classes follow a specific curriculum and aim to teach pregnant women and their birthing partners how to prepare for a natural birth with minimal medical intervention. The classes teach techniques to help control pain and ensure a safe and healthy birth, so that trauma and complications can be avoided.
Class content includes:
Breathing techniques Massage and relaxation techniques Positioning for labour Communication skills Information about medical procedures Advice on breastfeeding
Is it for me?
A Lamaze class can be beneficial for all pregnant women, but may be particularly helpful to you if you are an anxious or first time mum. Attending classes with your partner may help them to gain a deeper understanding of the birthing process and to feel more involved – so why not see each class as a bonding session.
