How does it work?
There are plenty of ways in which doctors can conduct checkups to determine your state of health. You may be asked to answer a series of questions about your daily habits, as well as describing any symptoms you have recently experienced. It’s also common for doctors to weigh patients and to take their blood pressure, just to make sure that everything’s as it should be – so be prepared to hop on the scales.
Hopefully, you’ll be given a clean bill of health – but if not, don’t panic. If there is any cause for concern during a routine consultation, your doctor will follow this up with blood tests and other examinations – this will help them to pinpoint the best way to get you on the mend.
Is it for me?
You wouldn’t let your car go for too long without a checkup, so why neglect your body? A health consultation can benefit everyone – even if no serious symptoms immediately spring to mind. If there is something that’s bothering you, then it’s even more important to get it checked out – the earlier problems are picked up, the better.
Good to know
Some practitioners such as nutritionists and holistic healers may be able to offer you a form of health consultation. However, for a full medical checkup, including blood tests, you’ll need to visit your doctor.
