Endermotherapy description

Treatwell says relax. Endermotherapy is a mechanised massage treatment that uses suction and rollers to release muscle tension, stretch connective tissues, and reduce scar tissue formation.

How does it work?

Endermotherapy machines look very similar to those used for endermologie, but therapists work to target osteomuscular issues (problems with the links between bone and muscle).

A typical endermotherapy session lasts around 20-40 minutes, and will require you to lie down on a massage table as the head of the machine is run over your body. You will also need to wear a specially designed (but not very fetching) nylon suit, which prevents any friction between the endermotherapy machine and the surface of your skin.

During the session, your therapist will focus on any injured areas to loosen tightness, encourage bloodflow and disperse any lactic acid or protective fluid that may have accumulated.

Is it for me?

Endermotherapy is particularly suited for those who have recently suffered a muscle or ligament injury, who are about to undergo (or have recently undergone) liposuction surgery, as well as those with conditions such as chronic cramps and fibromyalgia.

If you have more established scar tissue, endermotherapy can also help to improve mobility and potentially ease pain.

Good to know

Athletes often use endermotherapy to aid their recovery, improve circulation and improve their range of motion prior to competitions.
