How does it work?
Chair [[treatment/aerobics/description/| aerobics]] is a fun filled exercise class that incorporates cardiovascular, strengthening, balancing, stretching and [[treatment/breathing-techniques/| breathing exercises]]. It is designed to help you raise your fitness levels and make friends along the way.
Typically, sessions last from 45 minutes to an hour and take place at local sheltered housing, community centres or care homes. The YMCA and Age Concern often provide services in more remote areas and as long as you can provide the people and the premises, chair aerobics provide the exercise equipment and the music- sounds like a deal to us!
Exercising is great for our bodies, whatever your age or ability. Not only will it strengthen your muscles, making unused joints flexible and therefore making it easier for you to get about, but it will also raise your energy levels, making you healthier and happier.
Is it for me?
Chair aerobics is suitable for those who normally can’t make it to the gym, from the elderly, diabetic and pregnant women to those with physical or mental difficulties it can help all. Chair aerobics insures that you don’t miss out on the vital exercise your body needs just because you can’t make it to a fitness centre.

Variations on chair aerobics classes for the more adventurous include chair [[treatment/salsa/description/| salsa]] and chair [[treatment/belly-dancing/description/| bellydancing]]!
