Crème de Rassoul Wrap and Traditional Massage of The Orient.
“Yes, my dear people, I have set my first footfall in the East, and oh! that I could tell you the new world of old poetry… of light, and life, and beauty which that word opens.” Florence Nightingale, letters from egypt, 1849
I have travelled for a week, but this is where my journey truly begins, in Egypt. Soon after disembarking in Alexandria, I am restored by a fragrance as ancient as the port: kyphi, a compound incense of ten essential oils that once soothed pharoahs, and now has me under its spell. My tension eased, I depart into a dream… In Casablanca, near the Medina, I’m enveloped in a velvet cream, an age-old Moroccan recipe using the powerful cleansing effects of the local rassoul clay. I emerge from my clay cocoon as if in a new skin: firm, purified, enlivened, from the nape of my neck to the tips of my toes.
Purification is followed by rejuvenation. Among the locals, the oil from the fruit of the extraordinary argan tree, found in Essaouira, is known as liquid gold. The pressed argan seeds yield an oil rich in nutrients that, it is said, ward off the effects on the skin of ageing. Gently heated, blended with sweet cinnamon, eucalyptus and cedar, and then applied with firm, soothing strokes, it is like nectar to my skin, breathing new life into every pore… I am awoken like royalty. A light mist of flower rain refreshes and cools me before a fruit leather roll and a glass of sweet, spicy nectar warm my soul…
