I've always heard horror stories about people crying out of hairdressers but I didn't think it would really happen to me... until I made a visit to Ania.

I was greeted by a woman (I assume to be of Eastern European origin) who seemed friendly at first but then as soon as I stated I had a Wahanda voucher, her attitude completely changed. I told her I wanted simple light brown highlights with no red tones but she insisted I should have two different types of highlights (costing 20 more pounds) and basically was trying to make me pay more than my voucher. I told her I was quite happy sticking to my voucher (full head of highlights) and she continued, although looked quite annoyed and angry doing it.

The result? NIGHTMARE. I had ginger streaks across my hair which looked downright horrific. I don't know if this was done deliberately because I didn't want to pay more but whatever the case, it was clear that she didn't listen to what I wanted or even cared. Also with her next customer, they were speaking the same language as each other and I felt uncomfortable throughout as I'm pretty sure (without sounding too paranoid) that she was talking about me.

The colour was so bad that the other hairdresser in the salon (male, Italian?) saw the damage and offered to rectify it. I have to say despite my terrible experience, this gentleman was kind throughout the whole experience and for that I'm grateful. He put toners in my hair which eased the redness of the highlights etc. But it still wasn't enough and on my way home I bought a dark brown hair dye and coloured it in the shower because it was that bad.

So my opinion? If you do go to this salon, ask for the gentleman and avoid the lady at all costs. All she cares about is money and it seems that you'll end up looking like a clown if you get on the wrong side of her...
