The Hotel is lovely - clean, lovely rooms and friendly service. The swimming pool was just O.K., nothing special. I guess I was expecting more in the way of swimming facilities. Sauna and steam rooms good. The Hot Tub was out of action due to the oil tank having been drained and oil stolen. Not their fault!! No hot showers etc in pool area.
My main concern was that facilities for purchasing extra gifts from the Spa and paying in general were very disorganised. We wanted to purchase a nail varnish set and an eye pencil - both were problematic - firstly in finding the actual goods and secondly in knowing how much they cost. When it came to paying, we were charged an outlandish price at first and told we could have 25% discount. It was still much more than we should have paid. When i went back with what we should pay written out on a piece of paper, there was no quibbling, and the two people on Spa Reception refunded and charged us the correct amount, again with a discount. So it was resolved with no need to get cross, but it really shouldn't have happened!! It seems that because we came on a Last Minute deal, it doesn't show up properly on the til, but even so - that needs to be sorted out. Also, I was kept waiting for my treatment. I wouldn't mind, but we'd been told "Come in good time for your treatment, as we don't want to keep our Therapists waiting". When I asked, at 5:45, when my 4:30 treatment would happen, I was told "Your Therapist will be with you when she's ready" with no apology!! When we went to check out, we were charged for the extras we'd had, but also, yet again, for the Spa treatments...... again there was no hassel when I said that we'd already paid, and that some of the treatments were included in the deal, but again, no apology, just that it doesn't show on their screen. I know this sounds picky, but it's a gorgeous Hotel and friendly staff, so if those things were ironed out, it's be just great. I must say, we had lunch before we checked in, and the guy serving was extremely attentive and professional. So, i guess it just needs that consistency across the staffing and it's be woderful. The actual treatments we had were excellent.
