Ockenden Manor Hotel & Spa
Visited Apr 2012
Ockenden Spa is housed in an ultra modern building hidden behind a small traditional hotel. The facilities are very good, modern, new and clean. I particularly like the outdoor pool, there's also an indoor pool (linked) and a small jacuzzi. Complimentary hot and cold drinks are available. We were there on a Sunday morning and there didn't seem to be quite enough loungers around the pool area although there is also an area behind reception with chairs and tables and drinks available for relaxing/lounging. We both had 2 treatments booked, a hot stone massage (wonderful) and a floatation. We've both floated before so knew what to expect, unfortunately the experience was woeful. The lid on the floatation pod doesn't close properly and therefore it doesn't get dark, also the music played at the start and end of the treatment never stops - so the floatation idea of sensory deprivation, totally quiet and totally dark is never achieved. I complained and after waiting around for quite a while spoke to the assistant manager who agreed to refund the cost of the both treatments. A big disappointment and the experience left me frustrated and tense, not exactly the purpose of a spa!
