All good, only think that bothered us was when we went to sit down for the light lunch there was no background music at first and because it wasn't busy it felt like sitting in a library.

Three friends and I booked a spa day for a birthday celebration. The pool area is OK, however the changing facilities are really shabby, the worst I've found up to now. Also one of the female toilets did not lock and there was no toilet paper! On a brighter note, the afternoon tea was very nice - although the dining room appeared a little gloomy. I was really looking forward to my neck, shoulder, back and foot massage and it did not disappoint - until the following day when I had the most excrutiating pain shooting from my spine to my shoulder blade and sundry other back pains. I have had several similar massages over the years and have never experienced anything like this. 4 days later and I am still in pain despite all the painkillers. I contacted the Spa to inform them and received a disappointing response - not a 'sorry' in sight. Not to be recommended.

Overall, a very relaxing experience with friendly staff. Let down a little by the rather bland salad, cous cous and houmus with the lunch. £8.55 for a standard glass of sauvignon was somewhat extortionate, too. The pool area was very well designed and pleasant but it was a little overcrowded and the jacuzzi was not in operation as it was undergoing maintenance. Changing area was rather 'tired' and the brown robes had seen better days. Despite the negatives, we had a very relaxing visit and I would possibly go again.

The leisure facilities were not the tidiest and it was full of children, some with inflatables which,in a small pool, meant there was little room.
The treatments however were lovely and the staff were very friendly and professional - highly recommended!
Lunch was a disgrace, flavourless salad served in a box that resembled a school lunch tray - staff in the restaurant were unfriendly and once they had served the food, disappeared - maybe they were embarrassed by what they had served up!

Agree totally about the lunch being tasteless, Staff were very friendly today, though.

Reception staff need to be trained up in customer service as there was confusion over booking, despite forms being handed in earlier in the morning as we were hotel guests. we had checked booking at Spa reception the day before.Changing room facilities cramped. Enjoyed an aqua class in pool before lunch. Local ladies made us feel most welcome. Bento box lunch was excellent. Cannot praise Carol, my therapist, highly enough. An amazing facial and my skin is still glowing! A repeat visit is on my wish list soon.

Beautiful spa and facilities my massage and facial was one of the best I've ever had had a fantastic day, I would suggest more choice for the lunch menu though other than that it was excellent

Having been to Slaley Hall Spa before I was disappointed to feel that the experience has gone downhill. The staff seemed confused by what treatment I had booked and the therapist, although friendly, lacked confidence and left the decisions up to me regarding what treatment would be best. The back massage was ok but very light, even though I requested a firm technique. Previously when I had experienced the same back massage here it had been much better. The lunch is ok but served on a 'school dinner style' tray - at 12.30 in a restaurant without music or ambience. The staff however are very friendly.

The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The facilities were adequate, although you have to go into the changing rooms to shower, in between sauna and steam and pool - instead of at the pool side. The pool area is quite dated and need of refurbishment. On the day we were there we had to use the men's changing rooms and the men were using the women's? No idea why, except that they are also desperately in need of refurbishment. The 'light lunch' was very disappointing - served in a plastic box with compartments for different types of food - the choice was salmon or chicken and we weren't asked if we had any food allergies. My friend is alergic to melon and this was served with pineapple!
However, we did enjoy the treatments very much. The therapists were very good.
We would go again, but wouldn't choose a package with food included - would rather choose what we would like to eat.

We had a really lovely day. The only things that would have improved it would be if I had been given a robe straight away as after my massage I had to put my clothes back on and go and ask for a robe. Also, my mum is coeliac and we told them when we booked, they did provide a gluten free meal but they replaces the gluten things from the normal main with salad which meant there was a lot of salad and no dressing. A gluten free salad dressing or an alternative other than salad would have been nice.
I'd have also liked a confirmation email stating the times I was booked for my treatments and lunch as I booked a few weeks in advance.

Otherwise we had a really lovely day and were able to really relax.
