Having been to Slaley Hall Spa before I was disappointed to feel that the experience has gone downhill. The staff seemed confused by what treatment I had booked and the therapist, although friendly, lacked confidence and left the decisions up to me regarding what treatment would be best. The back massage was ok but very light, even though I requested a firm technique. Previously when I had experienced the same back massage here it had been much better. The lunch is ok but served on a 'school dinner style' tray - at 12.30 in a restaurant without music or ambience. The staff however are very friendly.

The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The facilities were adequate, although you have to go into the changing rooms to shower, in between sauna and steam and pool - instead of at the pool side. The pool area is quite dated and need of refurbishment. On the day we were there we had to use the men's changing rooms and the men were using the women's? No idea why, except that they are also desperately in need of refurbishment. The 'light lunch' was very disappointing - served in a plastic box with compartments for different types of food - the choice was salmon or chicken and we weren't asked if we had any food allergies. My friend is alergic to melon and this was served with pineapple!
However, we did enjoy the treatments very much. The therapists were very good.
We would go again, but wouldn't choose a package with food included - would rather choose what we would like to eat.

We had a really lovely day. The only things that would have improved it would be if I had been given a robe straight away as after my massage I had to put my clothes back on and go and ask for a robe. Also, my mum is coeliac and we told them when we booked, they did provide a gluten free meal but they replaces the gluten things from the normal main with salad which meant there was a lot of salad and no dressing. A gluten free salad dressing or an alternative other than salad would have been nice.
I'd have also liked a confirmation email stating the times I was booked for my treatments and lunch as I booked a few weeks in advance.

Otherwise we had a really lovely day and were able to really relax.

I have been to Slayley on a number of occasions, and the visit I made in Feb was one of the best. The treatments were excellent and the staff from reception to resturant staff, to beauticians was very good. You now have to pay a deposit for towels and robe,, so it would useful to know that in advance, so you take the cash ready. Sad reflection that people have been stealing the robes .
Suggest a few more magazines in the room when awaiting treatment, though perhaps once again , guests may have stolen the good magazines.
Only one private changing room, which I did not mind, but some people may be not happy with this , though the toilets are roomy enough to change in. Very clean and hot tub very warm! Lovely setting, especially on a sunny day. Lunch was included in the package, but I did not enjoy this as much as the deal where afternoon tea was the offer. However , that is my personal preference . Great to spend a day with pals or family for a special day out at a good price.

The overall experience was OK. Not having been to Slaley Hall before, I was expecting a little more from the reviews I had read.
The changing rooms are way too small and looking quite grubby. The swimming pool was looking also tired and in need of a make-over. Also we were told that we had to book into go for afternoon tea - we ended up in the bar area, in our robes mingling with a wedding party - which wasn't ideal.
Just some pre-arrival how to/where to type answers would have been great as we felt we were wondering around a little lost and although the girl who served us at the spa reception was lovely, she could have been a little more accomodating.

I came with a friend and it was a lovely and relaxing experience. It was a present for her birthday. The whole experience was perfect. Great treatment, good chat in a relaxing place and fantastic company! The therapeutic massage was great. The lady who did it made sure that all my needs were met and questions answered. We then relaxed at the bar next the swimming pool. The bar attendant was very friendly and helpful. We then went for a swim and Jacuzzi before eating a simple but nice meal at the bar. The water was warm and pleasant for a swim. We finished the day by going to the bar/lounge in the main part of Slaley Hall. A great way to finish a very pleasant and relaxing day! Thank you.

What an amazing day we had! The staff were so friendly and the facillities were great! Gym swim and sauna followed by massage and we bought facials too!!!!
Only draw back was people arguing over sun loungers and leaving their belingings behind when they went for treatments - really feel this could be inforced and did put a down on the day! Apart from that no complaints!

Not bad. The therapist was lovely and friendly. The bad thing was Her hands were cold to start with. The room wasn't warm enough either.
The therapist listened to my concerns and she did do a good job massaging all the knots. I felt comfortable with her too. Her name was Lindsey, lovely friendly lady.
Juice bar was nice and clean and relaxing - they don't sell juices though which is odd-. The staff were lovely and friendly there too. It was warm by the pool area and it was clean. Me and my friend had lunch there too. Nice food, a bit pricey but nice as a treat. Coffee was good.
Sauna abs stern room were good and clean. We went during the week so it was quiet. Staff not pushy to sell you things.
Roads need updating as they look old but still very clean.
I would recommend it yes.

A really enjoyable experience and well worth the money (tho it was a gift). Staff were friendly and professional, the Spa was clean and inviting. My lovely masseuse knew her job and delivered a great massage ( I ought to know as I was a physiotherapist) with good pressure and technique. I will probably go back for more.

Lovely staff and Wonderful massage but the facilities need updating, its looking tired and dirty in changing areas and the treatment room ceiling was dirty, not the nicest thing to be looking up at.
