Wholistic Health through Yoga
Wholistic health means liberation from physical, emotional and mental tensions, leaving the way clear for spiritual evolution and understanding to flourish. Wholistic health is not a matter of striving because you are already perfect, it is rather a process of removing the obstacles and letting go of accumulated tensions that prevent the true expression of who you are - an amazing being of infinite power, peace, wisdom and love.
The nature of energy is movement. When energy cannot flow due to blockages then tensions arise. Over time if tensions are not released, they accumulate and finally express themselves as physical, mental or emotional imbalance, stress and disease.
I will work with you to enable you to a) identify those blockages b) relieve the symptoms (the bad back, the depression, the anxiety etc.) and c) understand on a deeper level the underlying causes.
Yoga means to 'yoke together' or 'make whole' and the word 'whole' is derived from the word 'heal'. The key to wholistic health through yoga starts with experiencing the intimate connection between the body, breath and mind and progresses to the ability to witness the constantly changing nature of these energies. The culmination of Yoga practice is the lasting realisation that seperateness and duality are illusions caused by the over-identification with the body/mind complex.

Yoga is both a philosophy and a practical, scientific path of practices for easing physical, mental and emotional tensions, expanding awareness and liberating energy for the purposes of healing, creativity and spiritual evolution.
Yoga is non-competitive, it can be practiced by people of every age, ability and physicality. It has no religious component and can be practised alongside any religious beliefs or non beliefs.
One of the central principles of yoga is to be fully aware and accepting of the present moment as it is without suppressing anything. As we learn to let go of the achieving mind and the expectation of how we think things 'should be', we also let go of the cause of unnecessary stress and can experience all that life has to offer, the joys and the challenges, with wisdom and equanimity.
Satyananda Yoga / Bihar Yoga
Swami Satyananda Saraswati, disciple of Swami Sivandanda Sarawati of Rishikesh, founded the Bihar School of Yoga in 1964 to impart the knowledge of yoga "from door to door and shore to shore." He combined the philosophy and knowledge of ancient practices contained in the Vedas and in the traditions of Tantra and formulated them into a comprehensive system adapted for contemporary life.
The many paths of yoga are all incorporated into Satyananda Yoga to integrate and balance the different aspects of the human personality.
