we were greeted by the spa manager, who was a little bit rude - she wouldn't book us in until we had sent our email conformation of price (even though a staff member told me when i called to book my treatments in said i didnt need to bring any conformation) luckily i had an email on my phone from lastminute, com, i tried to send the email to the spa manager however there is no signal in the spa so it wasnt sending through - she then said if i could sign up to the wifi so she could receive the email - and did not let us go into the spa until we had done this , this took an hour, i then informed her our treatment was at 11 as it was 11.05 - she said dont worry they wont mind (presuming this was the beauty therapists) we sat down as instructed and waited 45 minutes for somebody to collect us (as advised) nobody came until i asked, the therapists then apologised and sorted us out.
The spa itself was beautiful and really top spec, we enjoyed some lunch and relaxed in all the saunas & our treatment was amazing. I cannot fault the spa - i usually go to a different spa but i was really impressed by Craxton Wood & the value for money on the deal was better than anywhere else i have been.
It was just unfortunate that the Spa Manager put a downer on the whole experience (we soon forgot after our lunch & a swim though)

Spa is beautiful but the treatments were very disappointing. Food was over priced and quality was lacking. Sorry - wouldn't recommend even with the offer we got. Took a lot of time to book, especially as the gentleman on reception originally put the phone down on me when he realised a client was on the line (he was mid a very personal discussion with a colleague).

Facilities were all great. The place was clean and well laid out. My issue was with the treatments. Both of my 60 minute treatments were cut short, one to 50 mins and the other to 45. The facial was completed without any mention of the products that had been used or what was going to happen. Twice the therapist left me alone for at least 5 mins, presumably to allow the product to do its thing, but again, without any explanation as to what was happening. But worse than any of this was the fact that immediately prior to the facial the therapist had obviously had a cigarette break. The smell of smoke was quite overpowering generally, but no more so than on her hands which were immediately applied to my face. It was a most unpleasant experience.

Spa treatment was amazing, though a little delayed starting, as the previous person was late, but it was one of the best massages I've ever had and my girlfriend said it was the best she's ever had. There were 2 large hen parties there when we were, so the spa and pool areas were quite busy. The facilities were really good, there was a herbal sauna which I've never seen before and an ice scrub barrel. One of the foot baths didn't work when my girlfriend tried it, but I'm not sure if that was because it was too full. The tour of the spa at the start was nice, but we felt that showing us inside the relaxation room stopped it being fully relaxing for those in there, as they keep getting interrupted by tours. It would have been better to just say this is the relaxing room when you get to the door without going in. There could be more chairs/loungers round the pool, as the pool was very busy when we were there. We bought lunch in the spa which was ok, but overpriced.

We should have been able to check in at 3pm, but when we went to check in at 4 the room still wasn't ready, so we waited in the bar and bought a drink (would have been nice if the drink was free, seeing as we should have been able to check into our room an hour ago, but it wasn't). There was no bar staff for about 10 minutes too, but he apologised for the wait when he got there, so we didn't mind that. We got into our room at half 4 which was clean and tidy. My girlfriend wasn't impressed with the fruit bowl, as it only had one strawberry, one plum, one banana, one apple and one tangerine, she thought there would have been more strawberries for our prosecco. The mirror in the bathroom is heated so it doesn't fog up, that was clever.

The evening dinner had VERY slow service, we got in at 8 and we finished at after 10, considering it wasn't busy as well was strange that food took so long. The starters and Mains were really enjoyable and tasty, my girlfriends desert was nice too. But my desert, the chocolate mouse, was terrible, it wasn't light and fluffy it was thick and lumpy.

Slept well, breakfast was great and good service. Checkout no problem.

Reception could have been better. Seemed a bit confused but apologetic and friendly. Manager was very attentive.
Bit of a mixup with times of treatments but not a problem. Staff always available to deal with questions and very helpful. Refreshments not kept topped up but overall very clean, comfortable and relaxing spa.

The venue was lovely, gym was small but well equipped and pool was good. The Heat Experience was not very warm at all (coldest sauna I have been in) and the ice machine wasn't working. The bad experience was when we turned up, as instructed, 5 minutes before our allotted treatment time and waited. And waited! Twenty minutes after our treatment time we asked a member of staff why we hadn't had our treatment yet. We got no apology or explanation as to why they had clearly forgotten about it, but did eventually get the treatment. Which was a disappointment. The mud was badly mixed and watery, the rasul sauna barely rose above room temperature and the rasul treatment room doesn't have a lock on which meant anyone can (and indeed did) just wander in - not great when you are scantily clad and covered in mud!
Then we had the light lunch which was part of our deal. The food was okay, but it turns out they don't include a drink as part of the "light lunch" and we were charged over £8 for a cup of coffee and a cup of tea!
I think its safe to say we won't be back.
