At first, they had no log of our booking. I called to double check and it took 30 mins to confirm. The manager was lovely and confirmed our booking in the end. Not sure if this was a hotel or third party booking mistake. Very nice hotel. Very clean. Free car park and a friendly welcome. Rooms are of a good standard and clean. We had Prosecco on arrival which was part of the package. Great way to start! Spa has very limited facilities. It was very very busy in there and we only stayed for 30 mins or so. No loungers to lie on, just a few chairs. Had an evening meal as part of the package and the food is a set menu. Overall the food was very nice but again limited due to the set menu. One or two members of staff were quite rude, as if they didn’t even want to serve you! The others were great though. The next day we went for breakfast and the staff were great. The breakfast was amazing I must say. Great choice and cooked well. Anything from a full English up to fresh fruit, pastries etc. Best breakfast I have had in a UK hotel! Overall, I would definitely return. These are little things I guess but none the less, a little frustrating sometimes! Lovely hotel, clean and modern. Food is great. Just one or two staff let it down. Was good value overall and it’s only a 10 minute journey to Reading. Train station is a 5 min walk. Was a very enjoyable stay apart from the little niggles but it happens everywhere.
This was a birthday present from my work. I loved the hotel, it was well presented, clean and ideal. The staff that work there were really good at their job. The Spa area itself was packed, but it was a weekend so it was always going to be.
Treatment rooms to near the swimming pool.
We booked a "luxury" two day, one night spa break and we ended up leaving straight after breakfast. We didn't realise that when we paid hundreds of pounds we'd be sharing the pool/spa with screaming kids. Our "three course dinner with bottle of prosecco" actually meant "you'll go down to dinner only to be told the bottle is in the fridge in your room, so are therefore forced to buy more drinks" Bedroom was lovely apart from the uncomfortable beds that wobbled. A good nights sleep was not had by either of us. Food was amazing and the people were very friendly.
Really enjoyed the massages and treatments provided. However was disappointed to find out that we did not have the same room type (executive room) as those provided to 2 people staying in a room. When we booked we were told that the triple room would be the exact same as the double room but would just have a sofa bed put in. However this was not the case as the double room had a bigger bed, dressing gowns, toiletries etc and other perks which we missed out on etc
