I had a truly awful experience with the wax therapist at Eclipz for a Hollywood that I had booked.
I requested the hot wax which was on her price list & was told that it would take 1 hour for a hollywood wax. It seemed like a rather long time for a wax to me, but I didn't question it too much. I had to ask her to leave the room for some privacy so I could change, as she first of all said it was fine for me to just get undressed in the room with her there. Not very professional in my opinion.
When we got down to the first few strips of wax I noticed she was only covering incredibly small areas at a time & then coming back and forth from the hot wax "heating-pot" which was a good metre away from her. This was EXTREMELY TIME CONSUMING and before she had even covered a quatre of the area, half an hour had passed. By this time I was getting very restless & thinking that I was going to be in this therapy room forever if I didn't say something. So I politely stated that this was taking a rather long time & that I would prefer we switched to the regular "strip wax" which covers a much larger surface area at a time.
She also had to be reminded to wash her hands once continuing with my treatment, after fetching the different strip wax bowl from the other room. As she continued the treatment, when she quickly removed each wax strip she would place her hand over the area just waxed, I suppose to soothe the skin somehow? I am very conscious of bacteria transfer when it comes to waxing as the pores are open & if bacteria gets in there little bumps appear & the area becomes red & sore. So this was a big "no-no" for me & I requested that she stop that technique as it would likely make me irritated.
The therapist admittedly did not speak very good English, but this should not impede her knowledge of bacteria transfer being a beauty therapist. She simply stated that "she did not understand" after I tried to explain the concept to her twice.
At the 1 hour & a half mark, there were still patches of hair that she had missed / needed to go over again with another wax strip as her waxing technique had not reached every hair. She reached for the finishing oil & as I noticed, I stopped her asking if she was done. She said she was finished & I pointed out to her that there were still very noticeable patches of hair. I asked that she finish the full hollywood as that was what I had come here for. She stated that if she were to go over it again, that it might irritate the skin even more than it already was. (By this time, I had little red bumps all over & my skin looked a little sore, which was not usual with my previous waxer) I stated that I was going away on a trip & this is why I wanted to have the hollywood wax today, so I could not go home & come back another day for her to "finish off". So all in all the full hollywood took about 2 hours to complete.
Needless to say, I left the salon rather upset, by the fact that my skin was not looking smooth & beautiful - as a professional wax should leave you - and annoyed by the time & money I had just wasted.
The 7- 10 days following the wax, I had red marks on my buttocks from the harsh strip wax technique / repeated application & my bikini area looked anything but flawless.
I checked to see whether this waxer was experienced before I booked, to which I was told she had been a waxer for over 15years. Well, I don't know who she has been waxing before me, but she came across as anything but qualified!
I notified the salon of my complaint & was told that the wax therapists there, work as freelance & therefore don't represent the Eclipz brand name.
