I booked a spa day, for my birthday, recommended by my partner. So very very disappointed with the unprofessional attitude and facilities. I wrote to the Hotel and received a reply which simply said sorry you did not enjoy the hotel and spa. I had to ask for a robe and slippers, no toiletries, no soap in shower, No information regarding putting my clothes into a locked locker, no guidance, no towel, another lady gave me hers. no plastic bag for swimming costume, No decent hairdryer, I posted a review on Trip advisor and the comments were from the general manager, that I should of said something on the day and also that the spa had many grateful customers, I suggest that he looks at the comments on this web site, and a lot of people are very disappointed. I was too upset and thought if this is the way they treat spa customers, customers won't put up with it for very long. Apparently they had me down for a back massage only, Now any company would throw their arms up in the air and say, this lady booked with us for her 65th Birthday and she has been extremely let down. Not the crown plaza! My partner telephoned the hotel and we got absolutely no where, no refund offered. so he contacted the head office and I waited one month for a refund. Dreadful way to treat a customer. My advice, find another spa
because if they get it wrong in anyway, they won't admit to it, and you will have to fight like mad to get your money back. I write this as a trained Osteopath, Aromatherapist, Massage lady, who knows the first thing you do when massaging any client or patient is to cover them with a towel. Jan Richards

Do not cater for dairy intolerant guests in this package, so incurred extra costs to be able to eat in the hotel. We did not get the type of room specified in the treatment break. Treatments were rushed. We did complain about stay and was told we could have a free upgrade and breakfast at our next stay. We will not be staying again or recommending this break.

The hotel has recently been renovated so I expected great things. The pool is tired, small and uninviting. No where to relax and loads of kids in the pool as it's open for hotel guests. We spent the day sitting on chairs in the spa lounge. So did everyone else. The relaxation room is odd. Overall very disappointed. It wasn't a spa day at all

Don't waste your money here....or your precious time. You'll end up more stressed than you were when you arrived!!! Spent a good part of the day walking up and down corridors in our robes trying to locate the spa, changing room and treatment area which were all in completely different areas and floors of the hotel. On finally finding the treament area we were given a robe but told the towels could only be collected at the main hotel reception a floor below and through a bar! Why on earth was this? And why did the main receptionist not give us out towels when we first arived?!! She must ave known we'd only have to venture back through bars and corridors and stairs to find her and her towels again half an hour later! Ridiculous. We went to the spa to relax after stressful lives and all this served was to stress us out even more! The facial was pleasant enough but the treatment room was cold and I had goose pimples throughout the hour. The food was very nice but on arival at the restaurant we were told no drinks were included at all and we had to pay the drink bill before leaving the restaurant.......this meant yet another trip BACK through stairs, bars and corridors to find the changing room again to retrieve our purses. Why were we not told about this at reception? And finally, the spa was VERY basic....there was just a sauna and a steam room.....the latter was closed for half of the day. The pool was basic.....no waterfalls or straight lines to swim in....had to go round and round in small circles to avoid large areas of very shallowwater. No pool staff either. All in all.....terrible service, terrible venue, terrible layout. Would never ever go there again, Waste of money. And a waste of my day.

Massage was lovely and staff were very kind. The spa and the swimming pool were on different floors so you have to walk around in your bathrobe in the cold to get to one place to another. Hotel was kind cold and did not have a cosy feel but it was very clean.

The facial was perfect and overall a good experience.
The only negative thing was the showers need updating. They were very small with torn curtains and a dodgy liquid soap to cleanse with. Didn't really fit in with the rest of the hotel.

I enjoyed my Spa (this was my first one) however there were a few things that I wasn't too enamored about though:
You had to wait on many occasions for staff to man the spa desk.
When downstairs entry to the pool was through a buzzer system - again had to wait ages to be let into the pool area (this again I can imagine was connected via CCTV to the Spa desk).
The changing room in the Spa seemed very dated.
A lovely experience for me and my friend was the lovely restaurant and gorgeous food.
Thought the staff were very friendly and welcoming particularly in the restaurant.

Went for treatment at the spa and therapist thought I was having a massage but I had booked in for a body wrap. This was not a problem as she went to get the things needed and then carried on with the treatment. When booking was made the correct information had not been passed onto the therapist, which was not her fault.
