Employers must pay National Insurance and employer pension contributions. Employees will receive 80% of their salary for hours not worked up to a maximum of \u00a32,500.<\/p>\n<p>For more details on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme or other financial support available to you, check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/government-extends-furlough-to-march-and-increases-self-employed-support?fbclid=IwAR2pDLJiXINaBfYIDmdLB0yrvSYseEXzeW0_Pc9YMtsIWUPzP6X6POjbz34\" class=\"ek-link\">Government website<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Self-Employed Income Scheme extended<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The government offered two grants, each available for three-month periods. The online service for making claims became available.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The first grant covered three months. The government provided a taxable grant of 55% of average monthly trading profits, paid out in a single instalment and capped at \u00a35,160 in total.<\/li>\n<li>The grant for November was an increase on the previously announced level of 40% of trading profits to 80%. This returned to 40% for the following two months, making the total amount of the grant increase from 40% to 55% of trading profits for the period.<\/li>\n<li>The second grant covered a separate three-month period. The government had not initially announced the grant value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading heading_4\"><strong>Other financial assistance available<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Salons or barbershops forced to close in England due to local or national restrictions are eligible for the following:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For properties with a rateable value of \u00a315k or under: grants of \u00a31,334 per month, or \u00a3667 every two weeks.<\/li>\n<li>For properties with a rateable value of between \u00a315k-\u00a351k: grants of \u00a32,000 per month, or \u00a31,000 every two weeks.<\/li>\n<li>For properties with a rateable value of \u00a351k or over: grants of \u00a33,000 per month, or \u00a31,500 every two weeks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Visit your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/find-local-council\" class=\"ek-link\">local authority&#8217;s website<\/a> to find out how to apply.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a31.1bn is also being distributed to local authorities so they can make one-off payments to help support businesses.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Coronavirus loan schemes extended<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The government\u2019s Bounce Back Loan and Business Interruption Loan schemes were extended and applications were accepted within a specific period.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading heading_4\"><strong>England: National restrictions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>All personal care businesses had to close in line with government restrictions for a defined period. This included hair salons, barbershops, beauty salons, spas, massage parlours, non-medical acupuncture and tanning salons.<\/p>\n<p>Mobile hair and beauty services were also required to close.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november\" class=\"ek-link\">Find out more on the government website.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading heading_4\"><strong>Wales: Current restrictions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A two-week \u2018fire break\u2019 was introduced in Wales requiring close contact services, including salons and barbershops, to close temporarily. Mobile hairdressers and therapists were also not permitted to operate during this period.<\/p>\n<p>The Welsh Government has published <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.wales\/coronavirus-circuit-break-frequently-asked-questions\" class=\"ek-link\">FAQs about the fire break.<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading heading_4\"><strong>Scotland: Current restrictions<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>A five-tier system of coronavirus restrictions was introduced in Scotland.
