While making our final preparations for the long weekend, (sausages, sun cream, umbrellas – you know the drill) it dawned on us that this is the first one of the year. After a gruelling four months since Christmas, we think we deserve something a bit more relaxing than a Great British barbie or some dreaded DIY. That’s right, we’re off on a spa break this Easter, and to make sure we all find somewhere suitably relaxing, we’ve extended our spa of the week to include five of our favourites who are open for business this weekend…
If when you hear the words ‘country club’ you think bright whites and cucumber sandwiches, rest assured that this spa is more 'dressing gown' than 'dressing to impress'. Located amid an area of outstanding natural beauty in Dartmouth, Devon, The Dartmouth Spa (pictured above) offers everything a frazzled guest could hope for in terms of relaxation, including treatments from Elemis, an indoor pool, and Rasul experiences. If you fancy making a weekend of it, there are beaches and countryside a-plenty, plus a number of spa days and breaks including the One Night Pamper Spa Break which includes an overnight stay, two 30-minute treatments, a two-course evening meal, use of the spa facilities and breakfast the following morning.
Situated in the peaceful village of Stock in Essex, Greenwoods Hotel Spa and Retreat is a rural refuge less than an hour from central London. Set among extensive landscaped gardens, this 17th Century manor house has had a few updates over the years, including the creation of an indulgent spa, home to a range of ‘purifying facilities’ (including monsoon showers and a 20-metre pool) and relaxing treatments from some of the industry’s best-loved names (including Elemis and La Sultane), plus alternative therapies like reiki healing and bamboo massage. Their Special Offer Overnight Spa Break for two sounds like the perfect way to while away a long weekend.
Surrounded by 1,000 acres of landscaped gardens, it’s hard to believe that Luton Hoo is just a ten-minute drive from Luton airport. Over the years this five-star hotel and spa has played host to famous guests including Queen Mary, Winston Churchill, and numerous film crews, having featured in blockbusters like Four Weddings and a Funeral, The World Is Not Enough and War Horse. Previously the property’s stables, the indulgent spa is now home to six luxury treatment rooms, an indoor swimming pool, vitality pool and heat therapy suite. Other facilities include a fully restored Victorian grass tennis court (which revolves to follow the day’s sun), an 18 hole golf course, and stunning views which can be enjoyed from the comfort of the spa’s heated pool – all egg-cellent for a lazy Easter weekend. Check out the Overnight Break with Bed and Breakfast to make the most of the fab facilities.

The One Night Spa, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Break has everything you need to relax the mind and rejuvenate the body before it’s back to work on Tuesday.
