As we get ready for the Summer bank holiday, it’s dawned on us here at HQ that this Monday will be our last chance for a bit of relaxation until Christmas – we know, where does the time go? With months of dropping temperatures, shorter days and darker skies lingering on the horizon like a particularly ominous cloud, we are determined to make the most of this last hurrah. We can’t guarantee you sunny picnics, rain-free barbecues or stress-free DIY (is there such a thing?), but we can help you find an idyllic place to relax, escape the city and breathe in a little sea-air. Welcome to the Sussex Spa at the Grand Hotel, Eastbourne, our bank holiday spa of the week….
Known to its visitors as ‘The White Palace’, The Grand, Eastbourne is the UK’s only 5-star coastal hotel. The perfect place to while away a long weekend, this landmark hotel is a short walk from the pier in one direction and the breathtaking Sussex Downs in the other, making it a great retreat for families and young romantics alike. Overlooking the town’s scenic shoreline and the historic Beachy Head, the Victorian hotel has played host to the likes of Winston Churchill, Charlie Chaplin and Arthur Conan Doyle. Since its construction in 1875 it has undergone many changes including the addition of two luxury pools and one of the grandest spas on the English coast.
Inside the dazzling white walls of the hotel, the Sussex Spa is one of the few in the county to offer a complete spa experience, with an extravagant treatment menu and state-of-the-art facilities. Guests of the spa are free to enjoy it’s indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, steam room, Jacuzzi, solarium and fully equipped health club and gym.
Treatments come courtesy of luxury spa brands Kerstin Florian - who use natural resources like thermal mineral water, mud and essential oils to obtain the highest quality treatments - and men's spa experts Vita Men - who use a combination of ancient therapies to provide the ultimate relaxation and rejuvenation experience.
On the menu guests will find a range of treatments from eyebrow shaping and waxing to vitamin C facials to a selection of luxurious body treatments including a Pure Organic Moor Mud Experience and Turkish Salt Scrub with Eucalyptus. The spa is also home to a salon offering hair services for men, women, children and brides-to-be, including a simple cut and blow dry, a full head of foils and permanent waving.
To make the most of a visit, the spa also offers a selection of spa days and breaks like the Ocean of Dreams Experience (a day of luxury including a light lunch, three 55 minute treatments, the 85 minute Ocean of Dreams Ritual and full use of the indoor spa facilities) and the One Night Relaxing Break, which includes one treatment, full use of facilities, overnight stay in the 5 star hotel and full breakfast the following morning. We know what we’re doing this weekend…
Whatever you have planned for the long weekend make sure you take the (last) opportunity for a little me-time. Take a look at the Sussex Spa at the Grand’s page where you can book treatments and escapes now. Happy holidays!
