As we find ourselves in that empty space between Christmas and summer (when the lucky few among us are jetting off on ski trips and city breaks), we thought we’d devote our spa of the week to a place that can transport guests millions of miles without the need for a passport. OK, Kallima Spa can’t actually transport us anywhere, but the luxury facilities and bespoke spa journeys can convince guests they’re somewhere a little more exotic than South West London…
Part of the London Hilton Syon Park in Middlesex, Kallima Spa borders the River Thames, neighbours the breathtaking Kew Gardens, and is walking distance from both Isleworth and Brentford stations. Located in the basement of the five-star hotel, the spa is surprisingly light and airy, with a modern and opulent décor made up of mirrors, twinkling lights and intricate mosaics.
A trip to Kallima Spa is, for want of a better expression, all about you. Experiences begin with a quick consultation, during which guests describe what they want to achieve through their treatment, and a member of the expert team designs a plan to suit your time at the spa.
The spa offers a range of signature therapies including exfoliation, mineral mud masks, facials, massages and male-friendly treatments like the Man About Town Facials and Body Performance treatments. All treatments at Kallima use premium products from the spa’s skincare partner Comfort Zone, along with other well-known beauty brands like Leighton Denny nail care.
As well as a tempting treatment menu and array of spa days and breaks ranging from a Champagne Afternoon Tea to the especially indulgent Two Night Syon Spa Break, the spa is home to some of the most impressive facilities we’ve come across – and we’ve seen a few. Between treatments, Kallima’s guests can swim under a ceiling of twinkling lights in the spa’s mosaic pool, relax in the whirlpool, hydrotherapy pool or under the Vichy shower, warm up in the sauna or steam room, or simply chill out in the relaxation ‘snug’ - which is complete with chaise longues, duvets and magazines.
On top of all this, the treatment rooms (which include one VIP double room) are suitably decorative and atmospheric with soft lighting and more mosaics, and the gym – should you wish to pay it a visit – is state-of-the-art with range of cardio machines, free weights, Swiss balls and personal trainers.
